Maya Eventov was born in Leningrad, in the former Soviet Union 1964. At a very young age she was introduced by her parents to the great artistic treasures of St. Petersburg. Maya spent countless hours at the Hermitage Museum studying the works of great masters, especially those of the post-impressionist period and Russian Avant-Gard.
Maya Eventov began her artistic studies at the young age of six. After graduating from a four year art program, at the age of ten, she was accepted into a prestigious High School affiliated with the St. Petersburg State Academy of Industrial and Applied Art. Maya graduated from the Academy in 1987 with a Master’s Degree in graphic design and began work illustrating children’s books. She took part in creating murals for concert halls in Moscow and Leningrad.
Maya Eventov immigrated to Canada in 1990 and resides here with her husband and two children. Her style of work has changed over the past 10 years, much of which she attributes to the happy, safe and secure life she found in North America.
Maya’s works evoke feelings of happiness, well-being and joy of life. She wants to share with you the warmth of the afternoon sun and the heat of the sidewalk, the smell of exotic flowers and the taste of ripe fruit. She wants you to wander the roads of Tuscany with her or enjoy a quiet moment in an overstuffed armchair in a romantic setting somewhere in Spain. Maya has exhibited in many of the finest galleries in North America and her paintings can be found in private collections such as that of the Right Honorable Jean Chrétien and in corporate collections such as the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Toronto.
