Born in Toronto in 1956, Terry Ananny developed an early passion for art and moved to Ottawa in 1975 to study at Carleton University. Her paintings celebrate the warmth and spirit of Canadian life, depicting hockey, children at play, and the changing seasons in communities across the country. Her vibrant, joyful style continues to bring a sense of nostalgia and connection to everyday Canadian experiences.

Throughout the 1990s, Ananny exhibited extensively in Ottawa, Montreal, Calgary, and New York, including numerous solo exhibitions. Her work was selected for a UNICEF Christmas card in 1998, and in 2000 she was commissioned by the Canadian government to create a coin design for the proposed Provincial Fables and Legends series, depicting a Nova Scotian legend. That same year, her artwork was featured on the annual report cover of Canada Health Research and Development.

Ananny’s paintings are held in public and private collections across Canada and internationally, including the Canadian Embassy in Brussels, the collections of former Prime Ministers Jean Chrétien and Brian Mulroney, the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, The Ottawa Hospital, BC Children’s Hospital, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford, CTV, Global Television, the Ottawa Senators, and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.

Her work continues to be exhibited in galleries across Canada, with her art also featured on greeting cards, calendars, puzzles, and holiday products through organizations including UNICEF, Hallmark, Make-A-Wish, Save the Children, and the Children’s Wish Foundation.
