Hanna MacNaughtan’s goal is to move away from the familiar imagery of nature, and create a unique visual presentation that acts as a portal for the viewer to enter and embrace their own emotions, experiences and dreams. Her artwork is focused on large, textured, abstract paintings on canvas, inspired from riparian foliage and the dynamic light along the water near her home in South Eastern Ontario, Canada. Her love of nature and constant exploration and immersion in the outdoors and the natural environment that surrounds her is what feeds not only her colours and textures, but the emotions of calmness and tranquility evoked in her work.
"I have always enjoyed being outdoors with nature. We live along a small river and this quiet waterway provides me with an infinite amount of inspiration. Wildflowers, birds of all types, deer, beavers, otters, turtles and much more life along this gentle river. The view is always changing from season to season and I never tire of going out on the water in my canoe or kayak to explore nature."
