Carlos León is a Spanish Postwar & Contemporary painter who was born in 1948. After studying in Paris and New York, he moved back to Spain in 2002. He is represented in several prominent galleries in Spain, the United States and Canada.
Léon’s source of inspiration is the ancestral figures from the Pre-Columbian era in South America. His earthy colors reflect his need to use nature as the basis of his expression. The simplicity, reflects the idea that less is more. The drawing, a critical artistic element in the artist’s process, expresses his faith in the human race. Léon moves through cycles that go from people, to animals, to plants, but the common denominator continues to be the spirituality that he inherited from his ancestors.
