Holly Ann Friesen is a contemporary painter based in Kenora, Ontario. After working in the agricultural sector as a scientific researcher and then as a market researcher, Friesen turned her creative energy to the arts as a profession after moving to Northwestern Ontario. She has always found creativity and art in her careers and sees art as a “continuation” of her experiences. Friesen works with abstraction, creating images that are recognizable but unique. She states: “As an artist, am intrigued by the idea of challenging the audience to see more than the original object or inspiration – to overcome intuition and encourage people to think more deeply about what they are seeing or experiencing. By painting I hope to get people to see and experience the world more fully.”
Friesen’s artwork is found in corporate and private collections around the world. Since, 2010, she has shown her work in many galleries and exhibitions across Canada
