From Montreal’s West Island, Shapour Khanizadeh is known for painting local west island landscape scenes, such as views along the Lakeshore. One of the city’s great impressionist landscape artists, Shapour incorporates dabbing, palette knife and pointillism into his painting techniques, entangling precision and impression.
He has been displaying his work throughout Montreal for over 30 years, honing his abilities to capture horizon lines and atmospheric perspective. With loose but confident brushstrokes, Shapour’s reimagines the way light is reflected off the water, the way the sunset is reflected off the clouds, the way shade casts down from the trees.
