Born in 1952 in Sainte-Monique, Quebec, Pauline Paquin first lived in rural areas on her father's farm where she began drawing at a very young age. She studies nursing in Saint-Jérôme, Quebec, and worked for many years as a nurse in Montreal. In 1980, she had a neighbour who was a painter and introduced her to oil painting. She began to take a serious interest in art and painting and eventually in 1983, she decided to enter this field and devote her life to it. Since then, she has exhibited in Quebec as well as in Ontario and in several galleries in Western Canada. She is also a member of the Institute of Figurative Arts.

The world of childhood, according to Pauline Paquin, would be a perfect summary of all her work. To her, children are always celebrating, in the city as in the countryside. A magical world of great vitality in colors, lines, shapes, emerges throughout her compositions. Pauline Paquin's paintings are obviously narrative, but they are so much more than just the anecdotes, the picturesque details, the "children's stories" that she proposes. "I've often been told that my paintings smile and yet very rarely do you see the faces of my children, first of all because I don't like to dwell on details, and especially because they better represent all the children of the world, not just some of the individuals here."
