Patrice Primiano :: Biography of the artist
Patrice Primiano was born in Ontario but has lived in Montreal since his early childhood. As a child he discovered art and found that the joy of his life was drawing and painting. He started started painting with oils when he was 12, and to this day, many many years later he still paints with oil when many other artists have switched to acrylic. He attended the Montreal Beaux Arts School graduating in the 50’s. He then continued with private with many famed Montreal teachers. He began painting “seriously” in 1969 when he aws beginning to acquire a reputation as a serious and dedicated painter
In 1980, fresh encouragement and recognition came when he was selected finalist at the “Salon Des Peintres du Quebec” with his painting Cabane Couture, showing the traditional sugar shack. This exhibit was sponsored by La Galerie d’Art des Peintres du Quebec themed “One page in Quebec history”.
His focus is now on the beautiful city streets and squares of Montreal. With an intuitive eye he captures the true character of areas like Old Montreal and Prince Arthur Street. Primiano delights in finding a forgotten building or hidden alley and telling us its story.
Over the years his work has been selected to appear in many prestigious events and exhibitions. His paintings can be found in many private and corporate collections throughout Canada, the United States and Europe.
