Braul, Harold

Braul, Harold finds beauty in the mundane sights of the modern city; his glimpses of everyday life are rendered in bold color and tempered with a soft, seductive luminescence. Trained as an urban designer, Braul creates a pictorial space that is seemingly three-dimensional. The thick, fluid application of oil paint gives the surface of his work an almost sculptural appearance.

Harold ’s introduction to art began at the early age of 6, when he studied under the tutelage of a private teacher. It was during this period of his life where he became a faithful disciple of color, line and light. In his later years Haroldès paintings were also influenced through his study of Industrial Design at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. However, to this day he maintains the child-like whimsy that first drew him to the medium.
